Reefton

Our Reefton style is a cut & loop stitch formation, very similar structure to our Owaka, but tufted to a shorter pile height, making it a suitable and more durable rug finish for many areas in the home. The addition of nylon yarn to the felted wool brings a nuance of colour and sheen to the rug. A balance of texture and light reflection were at the top of our minds when creating this style. This is where the style name Reefton was born. Reefton is a small town on the West Coast of South Island, and it is known as the ‘Town of Light’ as it was the first town in the Southern hemisphere to have electricity, so we aptly and with pride have this little town’s name sake.

The highlight nylon yarns can be tonal colours to the wool colour or, on the contrary, they can be contrasting colours which will bring a depth to the rug and anchor it to the floor and room interior.

The cut and loop ends are finished at a 12 mm pile height which is a practical yet beautiful texture for areas where minimalistic aesthetics is desired, especially on hard flooring.
