Waikiwi

Our champion carpet was named after the northern suburb of Invercargill, the southernmost city of New Zealand. Just as Waikiwi in Southland is renowned for its genuineness and reliability so is our Waikiwi style, as a wall-to-wall carpet or loose lay rugs. The felted 1300 tex wool is shorn to a level plush finish at 12 mm high, leaving a clean distinct tip definition to a robust carpet finish. While a one-colour finish is popular in this style, we can make Waikiwi rugs and carpet in up to 3 wool colours, twisted together at the tufting stage. This creates a beautiful striated effect. The addition of alternate yarns like linen or silk to the wool again completely moves the look - from formal to more organic.

Waikiwi is attractive to use in conjunction with patterns and designs. The finer felted wool builds good pattern definition at the colour changes.

Where long hallways or opening front doors are a consideration, Waikiwi can be made shorter without compromising the look and feel of the product.
